How to Change an MR16 Light Bulb

How to Change an MR16 Spotlight 

1. Locate the fixture containing the MR16 spotlight that needs replacing.  

2. Shut off the power to the fixture or to the entire landscape lighting system.  

3. If the fixture has a lens cover, gently unscrew or unlatch the cover to remove it.  

4. Carefully pull he MR16 spotlight straight from the socket.  

5. Delicately remove the existing bulb from the spotlight and discard it properly.  

6. Take the new MR16 bulb and insert it into the socket, confirming that it’s adequately aligned.  

7. Push the new spotlight into the socket until it clicks into position.  

8. Replace the lens cover if necessary.  

9. Switch on the power to the fixture or to the entire landscape lighting system.  

10. Turn on the light to very it’s operating properly.  

How to Replace an MR16 Halogen Bulb with an MR16 LED Bulb 

With LED increasingly claiming top billing among homeowners and businesses, replacing MR16 halogens with LEDs is something every industry pro should know. Before switching out the halogen MR16, it’s important to note that you may need to adjust he transformer to ensure the LED bulb receives the proper voltage since LED bulbs are comparatively more energy efficient.   

1. Consult the packaging or manufacturers specifications to firm the new MR16 LED bulb is compatible with the existing fixture and transformer.  

2. Cut the power to the fixture or to the entire lighting system.  

3. If the halogen has been in use, give it an opportunity to cool down enough to where it’s not hot to the touch.  

4. Remove the existing MR16 halogen bulb by carefully holding the base and twisting counterclockwise to unleash it from the socket.  

5. Gently remove the halogen bulb from the socket and dispose of it accordingly.  

6. Insert the new MR16 LED bulb into the socket, confirming it’s properly situated. 

7. Carefully push the new LED bulb into the socket until it clicks into place.  

8. Turn on the power to the fixture or to the entire landscape lighting system.  

9. To test the new bulb, switch on the light and verify adequate operation.
